With words I seek to sing thee praise,
that mere speech cannot convey:
Shear joy! Delight! Mine ecstasy!
Thine beauty my breadth beholds!
I find thee bold, yet fear thee not,
for thine heart, so tender and caring.
I know thee not, yet know thee well,
thine hopes, thine dreams, thine ambitions.
As I scan my soundless thoughts,
my soul becomes loosed from its chains.
Descriptions, visions, fly before me!
Amazing! Wondrous! Jubilant!
My heart beats bold, yet calm and steady,
for concessions need not be made here.
I closed mine eyes, bid thee goodnight
and heard thine voice responding!
My dreams are filled, both day and night,
with all that thou hast shown me.
(My God, You Alone, hold my soul.)
Dear newfound friend, you have filled my spirit
ten seven times and over!
Protect thyself, thine noble soul,
thine brilliance, thine gifts, thine talents.
I stare in awe at thy existence,
through the eyes of an innocent child.
I find no waste, no frills, no hurry;
a miracle itself to envision!
Tenacity, true test of time,
as day by each day I live;
so shall I watch thee mesmerize
my soul, my heart, my mind.
I feared comparing thee to God,
for so much of Him surrounds you.
That fleeting thought returned me to earth,
with its life, its death, its meaning.
Who of us dare to be so right
that we lay claim to see no wrong?
In His Truth, there be no question.
Thine resplendence surely outshines my light,
with clarity, brilliance and might.
All useless words -
I could write thee miles
to immortalize thine being;
yet dear Matthew,
you shall remain all that you are -
each moment a new spark - a flame.
Mere mortals,
we know who we are.
that mere speech cannot convey:
